Travis Miller is a critically acclaimed Pop/RnB Top 40 style singer-songwriter, musical artist and performer from San Jose, CA now residing in Central California. Why did you select this song as your current single?
I felt like the song was best suited for radio rotation. I had received a lot of requests from DMs on Twitter and Instagram saying that I should make more upbeat club type songs. I listened, and tried to deliver what the people wanted as best as I could.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
I feel like the record creates a necessary contrast and dynamic in relation with the rest of the records. A lot of the songs on the EP are based on events I’ve gone thru and are maybe more serious topics. I had to have a little fun with a few records and create 1 or 2 songs that people could turn up to in their cars, bedrooms or where ever they feel like poppin’ off at.
What was the writing process for the song?
Sensual types of songs are fairly easy for me to write. I basically received an e-mail from one of my producers with this instrumental and had to write to it. Got in front of the mic, pressed record and started freestyle singing anything that came to my mind. I pulled a few lines from that freestyle session that I felt like could be surrounded with creative , sexy lyrics and ultimately paint a picture with.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
They are just fun lyrics to set the mood right. There were a lot of people who requested this type of track, based on songs I had written in the past. I think people enjoy the sexy vibes from me as much as I like writing them.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I would like to think it’s mesmerizing like bugs fixed on a light at night! Haha. Girls have typically found songs like these as their cue to step on stage with me or throw articles of clothing my way! I suppose you could say they “like it.”
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Definitely not. This is just one lane that you could find me in. I really enjoy singing heart felt ballads. There are a couple of songs on my EP that are really a “Reflection” (as my album is titled) of who I am. I don’t think I can be summarized by one particular song. I think, even the EP as a whole is just a glimpse of what’s to come from me. I recorded around 35 songs just to narrow this project down to a 5 song EP, so stay tuned…
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
There isn’t a video planned for this song at the moment. I tweeted a while back that I would do a video on the song that is most streamed on Spotify and bought, and surprisingly, even after all the requests to record a single of this nature – another song has out done this one, by far, called “Build These Walls” which I am currently getting ready to film this month.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
I am motivated by music, itself. I feel as though I am addicted to creating music. I don’t even feel right if I go a day without writing something down or playing an instrument. Half the time a song starts while I am relaxing with my guitar or chillin with my piano. I play something that sounds cool to me and start expanding on those ideas and before you know it I have a story in my head that I want to portray, or it might remind me of something I’ve gone thru. Voila! A new song is born.
