Water Won't Drown Me

Some artist make it easy; meaning they are simply talented and need to be featured. This is the case of Paleo Sun. They recently released a new single called “Water Won’t Drown Me” and I think this is a smash waiting to be heard by the masses.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
‘Water Won’t Drown Me’ was chosen because it’s one of our feel good kinda songs. I was looking for a creative way to describe the ebb and flow of life challenges.  There were some lines in this song where listeners enjoy using their imagination.  The song is driven by the rhythm of acoustic guitar, thunder of djembe and the low growl of didgeridoo.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
‘sOulrizon Unplugged’ describes the epic journey of an ever changing world while it cooks up an irie vibe in roots rock fashion. ‘sOulrizon,’ ‘Love Gold’ and ‘Paleo Sun Tribe’ give you a bird’s eye view of a complex journey through this confusing world.  ‘Water Won’t Drown Me’ adds a little mystical hope with; Cotton clouds but not like the candy, rollercoaster ride never ending, along the way cold rains down on me, humming birds will guide me through safe.
What was the writing process for the song?
Imaging falling into a dream and events are unfolding with predestination. The song was literally written from a dream. When I woke I immediately started writing what I saw in the dream. While sitting down with my Alvarez, I felt my way through the rhythm and rhyme of this story. The feeling of song-writing is quite spiritually euphoric; it’s the part of the process I’m most excited about. Catching words for this song felt like painting an abstract painting, eagerly anticipating its interpretation.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
This song spoke to me as a strong reminder, when the tide rises, I’m never alone. It’s I&I on this journey in every way, he reminds me of that with every pound of the drum beat, in every performance.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
‘Water Won’t Drown Me’ has a chill kinda vibe to it on the recording and video. As for the live version, we turn it up a notch with tempo change and some flares. Zach Foust on drums starts the song with the floor toms which really lets you feel the song’s depth and heartbeat.  Sunny Kaliwali stirs the winds of change on didgeridoo.  We are always siked to watch show comers move to the song and sing it from the heart, there’s no greater feeling.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Not really, we like to keep people guessing with our music. This song gives the audience just a taste of who we are as writers and musicians. Our unplugged sound has one feel and our stage show another, it’s alive. In the industry people get so genre specific and to me genre labels are overrated.  I love composing music that’s tastefully diverse and exciting. I mean really when’s the last time you went to see a band who had a didgeridoo player? Big ups to Kaliwali for the way he breathes new life into the songs, through the didge. Our music is roots, rock, reggae version because of the instrumentation, rhythms and rhyme style from song to song on the EP.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
We decided to shoot a video for the song after the EP release, summer of 2016. The video tells the story of three guys who survive a plane crash and wash up on a deserted beach. They each find a message in a bottle and eventually cross paths with each other while discovering the destiny of their relationship. We had a blast creating ideas with film producer Kyle Kauffman. During pre-production our ideas just flowed, Kyle added more than we had imagined to the video’s vision.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
One word… Love. Love for the gift, Love for the giver, Love for the warmth of the song and the song’s shiver.
