Sometime you just have to write a song about “These Days.” Check out the interview below with Anna Varga Jazz Band.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
We knew we wanted to release These Days as a single the first time we heard it. It really is a good example of our sound and who we are as a band.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
These Days sets the tone for the album Bonjour Tristesse.
What was the writing process for the song?
It’s a song about failure and hard times. It’s what we were feeling as a band and how we felt about the world when we went into the studio.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Watching us perform live is like seeing a classic torch singer from the 50s and 60s with a jazz trio but with a modern edge.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
These Days definitely conveys who we are as a band and who I am as a performer.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
I’m shooting video with D’Angelo Dixon who has toured with the Rolling Stones and worked with Afrika Bambaataa.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
The motivation behind my work is to evolve as a stage performer and heal from a lot of abuse and trauma that I’ve survived in recent years. Music heals.
