Check out this great song and find out some of the info behind its creation.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
It’s the most recent song I recorded for the new album. I’ve been writing recording and releasing the album track by track, this single actually has 2 songs on it. The 1st single “The Inside” is super special as it was co-written with Pete Nappi who is part of Kara Dioguardi’s production house Arthouse Entertainment. Pete just did tracks with Ke$ha, Meghan Trainor, Shinedown & others. He’s blowing up, I feel pretty blessed I got him when I did. The other song “In Another’ is also part of this single and just as pleasing.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
Musically it’s in that electronic world with some added acoustic instruments like the rest of the tracks on my upcoming album.  I will say this track definitely has the most electronic sounds, which is Pete’s beautiful stamp. Lyrically it has that under lying love struggle that I delve into a lot. I will say The Inside says a little more than just wanting to feel the real aspects of love though. It also speaks about not being able to have and feel that love you know you possess in public so you need to go inside of yourself where you can really be free.  We all want to feel the light of love and sometimes you have to invite the person inside to have that even if it is for just one night. I mean I don’t want to over analyze the song and you need to pull whatever you feel it means to you but I have been asked a bit about what going inside means. Where ever the inside is for you then that’s it.
What was the writing process for the song?
It was very different from what I usually do on my own besides the fact of adding another writer, Pete lives in LA and I’m in NY.  So we started by phone calls and he was super chill about what we were going to do. He had heard Fly (Feel Love Tonight) and In Time, the 2 other tracks released already for the new album and loved them so he had confidence in anything I was going to present to him. We finally decided that I would either send him something acappella or a song I was already working since I was writing my new album already we wanted to stay close to what my intentions were. I had a few tracks I had been working on and out of the 3 I sent him he chose “The Inside”.  Musically I had a totally different canvas. He asked me to bounce just the vocals and send them over before I flew out to record.  I watched him build the music around those vocal tracks in half a day. The guy is a total mastermind. He blew me away. It just came together. I came back to NY to do  re-takes on my vocals with my longtime producer David Caggiano then sent it off to Emily Lazar (The Lodge NYC- my longtime mastering house) and it’s been an amazing ride so far.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Everything, I only write lyrics that truly mean something to me. While my songs are personal writings of my experience I do think about others and what they may feel too. I know on a global level people hide their true love whether it be, straight, gay, transgender, affairs etc. We all have gone inside to hide a truthful feeling at some point of our lives.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
It would be amazing, passionate, sexy, and totally rocking. Haha if I don’t say so myself. In the 2nd half of the chorus Pete actually took the beat to half time which is traditionally heard in rock songs .. super intelligent choice. I’m a rocker chick too so when the band and I are playing this song we get real gritty – it’s a rocking time… the best!
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Sure! Right now. I’m always evolving with each album so this sums me up for this coming album and a nice progression from my last.  I’m having a big love affair with synthesizers, noises and big fat beats with bass lines.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
I have a lyric video out for this song right now. I do plan on doing a real video but everyone has loved the lyric video so much I’m waiting, I think it has something to do with the girls Legs 😉 Go check it out!! What’s behind the legs for this video is the management company that is working the single for social media asked for a lyric video and I think lyric videos tend to be boring so I spiced it up a bit.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
My soul and my desire to make people feel, think and love.
