The Hand of Reason is Poison for the Heart

FirstBordeauxMike1The Hand of Reason formed from a concept project Michael & David Dhamers originally had been working on. After finding drummer, Alex Leonard, in mid-February 2015, the group started taking on show and reaching out to audiences from their hometown of Olympia and beyond. Presently, the band is booked to play at the Firewheel Coffee house in Everett, Washington. 2 days (Wednesday and Sunday) of Lakefair, Olympia’s largest festival. With a number of other shows pending confirmation, you’ll want to keep up to date on their upcoming appearances through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheHandofReason and you could even drop a like for them while you are there.
Check out their new single “Poison for the Heart” and why it became their single from Mercury EP.
Why did you select Poison for the Heart as your current single?
Poison has a kind of hook that brings people in and is short enough to get radio play given a few edits.
How does Poison for the Heart relate to the rest of the Crazy by Mercury albums?
Poison is a pivotal part when the main character gives into temptation and begins down the journey that makes up the meat of the Crazy by Mercury story.
What was the writing process for the song?
It started with a bass groove, and slowly evolved into the whole song as we just got down to jamming it out. It was rather organic.
What does Poison for the Heart’s lyrics mean to you?
It is a struggle between temptation and caution. What it takes to give in through the character’s conscience.
What would it be like to see you in person performing Poison for the Heart?
It’s like an emotional journey. Everyone is along for the ride, each beat and rhythm flowing you forward. Everyone is feeding off each other’s energy. Just gets you really into it.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Not really. Our music is diverse and evolving, no song ever really sounds similar to another. Each song has its own sort of personality.
Is there a video planned?
We are working on setting up a video, but we cannot go into much detail currently
What is your motivation behind your music?
Just everything, from life experience, thought, philosophy, anything that can muse.
