2015 has its first platinum album—and it isn’t even an album.
The Drake mixtape If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late officially became 2015’s first release to sell over a million copies. The album has sold 1.007 million copies as of this week, according to Nielsen Music.
The only other album to sell over a million copies this year is Taylor Swift’s 1989; the album has sold 1.463 million copies so far this year, but was released in 2014.
The rapper’s official studio release, Views From The Six, is expected later this year, though a release date is still unannounced. The album will reportedly be released on Apple Music after Drake partnered with the streaming service earlier this year.
If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late was a surprise release from Drake, which went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in February.
