Music: Unda Covaz by Moiika – Los Angeles, CA

Moiika main photoWhen you hear Moiika’s music you first hear Dancehall queen Lady Saw with all the sexual innuendo as you continue to listen you hear that she has lyrics as well. This side of her I would compare to a Nicki Minaj as she raps, then switches to singing and then do a little Jamaican DJ. Moiika is a dancer, rapper, singer and writer and I must say talented one at all of them. Moiika has done much to have amass a large following of over 77,000 likes on Facebook and I personal expect this to continue to grow as her music spreads. We had a chance to sit down with Moiika to discuss her latest single and this was the interview below. Enjoy
Why did you select this song as your current single?
Wanted to do something sexy on a dubstep riddim and I was working with Rhano Burrell in jersey and he had a dubtrap riddim and vwola!
How does this single relate to the rest of the EP?
The EP is a synopsis of me as an artist to this song just represents one facet of me and my style which is comprised of dancehall, pop, rnb, and hip/hop input.
What was the writing process for the song?
As it easy for most of my chunes, it just came to me right there on the spot in the studio- easy, breezy,~ beautiful UndaCovaz
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Basically a dedication to sexual monogamy
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Live performance is hands down my strength, so it will be the regular phenomenal Moiika experience
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I believe so, with the dubtrap riddim, dancehall chants, rnb melodies, and rapping, you can get a little piece of every facet of the Millpice (moniker)
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes there is a video, and it was done by RhanoVision and the vision was his, simply “Under-Covers” Rhano likes to keep it simply extraordinary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROxWXkdjDqk
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
Just music, the art of it, what it does for your soul, your mood- that feel good feeling. Also to share my personality and experiences with people; just offer something different, I mean every female rapper almost talks about how all women are beneath them and kinda promote controversial women relations, I just want to do me without stepping on anybody else to rise. A Queen doesn’t need to demean others to substantiate her claim her throne or reign.
