Rapping is easy, but making a song is difficult. Not many actual have the talent to put together a nice record. Music Bear tony Banks is on his way into become a good song writer. Check out his release “Static
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I chose Static to be my single because it speaks to a lot of people out there who might be going through something similar that other artist aren’t really talking about. Not every relationship is a good one for you and you have to have the wisdom to recognize when enough is enough and the courage to change!
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix- tape?
My upcoming Album “Yes Homo” is a collection of house, hip- hop, soul and dance. From fun happy tracks to social issues concerning police brutality. It’s everything I want to say as an artist and as a gay artist in hip-hop.
What was the writing process for the song?
It began with an early morning, eyes still shut, freestyle while still in bed. Maybe the song was writing itself subconsciously. I then did the beat and formed the structure and continued to write. I remember writing a lot of it on my phone while I was traveling here and there.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Like I said before It’s a song of wisdom, strength and courage. When someone is spiraling out of control and trying to take you down with them, but you don’t let it happen. That’s what the song lyrics mean. ‘chew pills, down drink but you claim it ain’t a habit. Falling down the hole like Alice, no rabbit”. Meaning this isn’t going to end well for you. No fairytale ending.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Very emotional. It’s usually my tight to the mic stand song for the first verse. Head down feeling the words. Then I let loose when the drums come in and get really hype!
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
NEVER. I’m a lot of different things. Someone once wrote “Tony’s style isn’t strictly hip-hop, there’s elements of dance, rap and house within his music, straddling a number of style in order to create his own musical identity.”
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
There is a video that I’ve just finished. It features Live Video mixed with animation. Those who have seen it all agree it’s dope. I look forward to sharing it with the world this June. Look for it on my website. www.musicbearonline.com
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
To share my life and my experiences with those who have traveled similar roads while bringing in those who may not have, but are willing to learn and appreciate our differences.
