Junebug are an acoustic / rock quintet from Glasgow, UK. They tend to talk about themselves in the third person. Weird, huh? Check out their new song, “Wild” and check out their reason behind writing this great song.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
‘Wild’ is the opening track off of our upcoming EP, due for release before the summer of 2015. It’s a totally new track in terms of the bands sound, and is an expansion of our previous ideas – as well as our live performances.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
It’s probably joint first as the most “rock ‘n’ roll” off of the EP. Out of the five tracks, there are two very much rock and distorted, one a pop-tune, and the last as a very gentle acoustic piece. Together they combine to make a really pleasing EP, but also work individually by themselves.
What was the writing process for the song?
It was actually inspired as a combination of our previous single ‘Hoops’ and a José Gonzales track – even though it sounds nothing like the two. I guess this is more so in the sense of the structuring than anything else, but I’d put them down as the biggest influences.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
More like, what does this song’s lyric mean to you?
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
When we play this live full band you can expect a lot of drums. It’s loud, it’s noisy, and it’s very much in your face. Acoustically, it’s a much more chilled out affair with a stomping beat.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
For Junebug in 2015, yes.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes there is, you can see it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3MHB0uKhx0. We had Sarah Grant direct it, and she was primarily in charge of the ideas and concept. It’s about escapism really.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
The motivation is to keep writing, recording, and hopefully improving!
