Music: Tiger (Do the Putt Putt) by DH

Successful Attorney with Savvy Humorous Skilled Talent Releases First Single,
“Tiger (Do the Putt-Putt)”
Born Dan Hanecak and known to the rap/music world as DH, some would say this unique artist mimics a sound similar to Eminem mixed with a hint of “Weird Al” Yankovic of the new generation. With his unique creativity, he has created a sound of his own that stands apart of any artist out there today.
Attorney to many and recording artist to the world, DH is about to unleash his first Single, Tiger (Do the Putt Putt), produced & written by Dan “DH” Hanecak himself and Bo Han Yang “Bo Haan.” Tiger (Do the Putt Putt) is a golf-themed rap song that will be released on February 16, 2017 on iTunes and throughout other Digital Media Outlets. The video to the single is currently on YouTube and will be released following the single on VEVO and other video outlets nationwide.
“What sets DH apart from other talented lyricists is his uncanny ability to walk the line between banging club beat and clever word play. Reminiscent of Outkast, he brings a head bobbing party track with a surprising amount of lyrical depth swimming just beneath the surface of a catchy chorus,” says DH’s label mate Bo Haan.
The song coaches listeners how to do a new dance, the putt putt,” which mimics the putting motion, but the song and video draw aspects of golf from all over: Tiger Woods’ career, movies (Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack), and of course, golf lingo. DH abruptly stops the song with a bridge to engage his listeners, whispering, “Silence! Golf clap!” encouraging them to join in with an applause synonymous with the sport.
Dan “DH” Hanecak’s path to the rap game is anything but ordinary. He is a San Diego attorney who has decided that it’s his time to make a mark on Hip-Hop and he has definitely landed a Hole-in One!
Check out our quick interview about the single
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
The goal of the EP was to have the singles that show off my versatility as an artist. I wanted to have a mix of songs that show off the different sides of me that are incorporated into my music: humor, love, relationships, and the light and dark sides of some of those things. And not just different life experiences or emotions, but also different styles of beats as well.
What was the writing process for the song?
We actually had just finished recording what was going to be the first single and I told Bo that I wanted a club song. He said let’s do it on the spot right now. We wanted something that had a dance and could get the crowd involved and kind of randomly ended up with the “putt putt.” He sat down to work on the beat while I crafted the hook based around the dance and then lyrics that drew on pop culture references to golf. We finished the whole thing in about 30-45 minutes.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
The title of the song is actually an homage to Tiger Woods. When people think about golf in the last 15 years or so his name is synonymous with the sport. He brought in so many people to follow the sport that never would have come in if it wasn’t for him. His excitement on the course and pure dominance still make him an event for people to tune in. I also wanted to tie in pop culture references to famous golf movies like Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore along with the sarcastic humor of the “golf clap.” I was really trying to write a song that brought together two very different arenas into one spot while creating something that was fun and upbeat.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Hopefully exciting! The beat just catches you right from the beginning with the base that it just makes you want to move.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
No, it only gives a very small percentage of who I am. Humor and fun, yes, but my voice is different in this song and my style of rapping is different on the other tracks. This song is actually pretty unique compared to my other recordings.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
The idea behind the video was that I would be a creepy golf pro (hence that lovely mustache) that would teach three beautiful girls how to “do the putt putt.” My mom, who is really the star of the video, is an onlooker of this “tutorial” and is trying to figure out how to do the dance while my friend Richard played a character based off of Wang from Caddyshack and was taking picture of her trying to do the dance, not the girls.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
Entertaining people, but at the same time providing lyrics that make people stop and want to explore the meaning behind them. It wouldn’t be a DH song if there wasn’t some random pop culture reference, some humor, or something that requires some further exploration into its meaning. I think that’s something all my close friends
