The moment you meet LIA, you’re drawn to her playful and charming sense of humor. However, when it comes to music, her passion is contagious as she transforms into an all-business artist. LIA’s focused, while busily working behind-the-scenes, where she has grown to respect those who help shape her career. As effervescent as she is, LIA gives much of the credit to her parents, and her younger sibling for keeping her grounded.
“My little sister keeps me stable,” LIA admits. She adds, “You know how some kids are kind of bratty? They don’t have anyone telling them that they aren’t doing something right sometimes. But my sister keeps me grounded. I correct my mistakes when she tells me, so we can connect more.” And, making that connection is LIA’s primary focus.
LIA’s debut single, “Summer Nites,” is available on iTunes May 13. “Summer Nites” is a club banger, featuring tight, foot-pounding, dance-driven beats with a sweet keyboard arrangement produced by hitmaker David “D.A.” Doman (Li’l Wayne, Tyga, Nicki Minaj, A$AP Ferg), and written by singer-songwriter MeShun Fuller (Evidence, The Young & The Restless) for NightWriter Music. A magical collaboration and bonafide summer anthem, “Summer Nites,” celebrates a sizzling season with catchy hooks, showcasing LIA’s vocal knack for spinning tales.
Drawing nearly 1 million viewers, LIA, is a YouTube musical gem, who’s 2013 video “Y.A.L.I.” (Young And Living It) went viral, earning nearly 38,000 views within its first month of release, thereby establishing a solid demand for the LIA brand. Thanks to thousands of Facebook fans storming ReverbNation, LIA was voted one of FIAT USA’s 2013 musical performance finalists for the hit video, “Y.A.L.I.”
“I think it’s really important to connect with your fans,” LIA says, “You have to try and understand where they’re coming from and what they like,” the Pop Princess explains. The hot track features fierce harmonies floating along, bouncy dance rhythms produced by Kari King and written by singer-songwriter MeShun Fuller (Evidence, The Young & The Restless) for NightWriter Music.
Born in Detroit, Mich., and raised in Tampa, Fla., LIA’s well on her way to becoming a Pop Princess. By pulling various elements from her background, the young chanteuse is preparing to become a star unlike anyone her generation has witnessed. LIA is a triple threat: she sings, acts and is an illustrator with a love for creating art. Icons such as Whitney Houston and others will be incorporated into her work
After writing her first song at age 7, titled “In My Heart,” LIA’s father encouraged her to record it at a friend’s home studio, and she instantly caught the bug — everything in her wanted to pursue a music career. A natural performer, LIA has appeared in several stage plays and musicals since 6-years-old, and denies ever getting cold feet. “Just the thought of singing onstage in front of a lot of people, that would just be awesome,” LIA shares with a smile. “Sometimes, I’m a little nervous but not really. It’s just excitement.”
There’s a quality in LIA that exudes a certain coolness leading one to believe she’s one of the most popular girls in class. But, she also gives off a genuine relatable nature: reminiscent of your best childhood friend. Her appeal lies in more than simply her immense talent. It’s in her attitude and her appreciation for creating a certain caliber of work. LIA’s currently taking vocal and dance lessons to polish her skills and prepare for the road ahead. Clearly, she’s not afraid of hard work…
The teen singer/actor fully understands the value of longevity, as well as, embracing multi-talents. “I really, really like acting,” she says excitedly. “That’s something I love. I also like to draw, she says philosophically. One day in the future, I hope to get into doing animation.”
In a world that celebrates flash fame and dims the spotlight before a full 15 minutes, LIA is ready to make her indelible mark in entertainment that’s sure to last for years to come. After all, this is only the beginning! LIA’s currently working in the studio on the forthcoming album for NightWriter Music. Look for LIA’s blazing Pop-Dance single, “Summer Nites” on iTunes May 13.
Check out our interview with this raising star about the soon to be hit single, “Summer Nites”.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I have always loved the summer, it’s a really cool time when you can just get your mind off school (don’t get me wrong I love school) to relax and just hang with friends. Summer Nites just sets the mood right for summer coming into effect and I wanted to create a song that would celebrate the season. I have always been a fun, bubbly and positive person and have always wanted to put a lot of me in my music plus I feel like it’s something a lot of kids and adults can relate to.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
It is a fun, bubbly song and has an upbeat tempo just like the other songs on my album. My album is due to come out very soon, currently in the studio working on more singles to include to my upcoming album.
What was the writing process for the song?
My producer had a fun song, for the summer in mind. And after a couple of conversations together trading off some ideas, we came up with the lyrics and we were at the studio working on the single.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Just being a kid, having fun and creating memories with friends—having an enjoyable time with friends in the summer. I love when the weather gets warmer, and i love hanging out with my friends, making memories happen
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Dynamic, exciting, fun, my fans will see me LIA, in action.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Yes they can, am someone who loves the summer, the beach, and the warm nite breezes.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
yes there is a video along with this song on youtube,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7XehjXSAaM The idea is to show how fun the summer nites are with friends, and make your own memories.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
I love music. I have always been in love with music right from the age of 6. Encountering music at a stage play, I just knew then and there that I wanted to do music. Just like anyone else I love to dance to fun music. I want my listeners to enjoy my music just as much as I would.
