Music: Still Bleeding by This Day Burns – Victoria BC (Canada)

This Day Burns Sept 2013-5896 WEBThis Day Burns is a band with a unique approach to song writing and performance. They have found a way to unconventionally express music from many perspectives. Each member switches and plays an array of instruments throughout the writing and performing process, giving them the ability to collaborate music on a different level. Their sound can only be described as diverse, unpredictable and energetic.
Check out this great interview we did with them after winning our Music Clout contest.
Why did you select this song are your current single?
After we recorded the EP, “Still Bleeding” felt like the most single worthy. However, “Mistakes Don’t Lie” would have taken its place if it did not have so many F bombs in it!
How does this single relate to the rest of the album, EP or mix tape?
Still Bleeding is not our heaviest or poppiest song but we feel it was a good song to release because it can appeal to the metal community as well as the rock/pop community and wanted a catchy single to establish ourselves. We don’t have many songs that sound a lot the same.
What was the writing process for the song?
I wrote the song while going through a breakup so it was just one of those songs that I wrote all in one sitting and while in a really emotional state. This was originally just an acoustic song that I was not planning to bringing to the band but our old band member Matty-Bass loved it and really wanted to make a rock version of it. – Jasmine
What does the songs lyric mean to you?
It is kind of an emotional mess… a lack of trust, cheating, and a really messy breakup…my tears poured into words and this is what came out. – Jasmine
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I’d like to think of it as being intense… as I relive the emotion that went into writing the song every time I play it…but you’ll have to find out for yourself. – Jasmine
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
We think because we have so many faces to our music, this song wouldn’t quite summarize everything that This Day Burns is capable of doing. We have a heavier side as well as a lighter side than what Still Bleeding displays.
Is there a video planned and/or completed and if so, what was the ideea behind the video?
A music video has been made already for this song as of Hallowe’en 2013. With the help of Vancouver’s Heatwave and Andrew Santos, the vision for the video pretty much followed what the song was about. It involved a girl, two different guys…cheating…hearts broken…
What is your motivation behind your music?
We just want to create something that is beautiful – that we’d like to hear over and over again and feel inspired, happy, excited and emotional in general because of.  We do not necessarily write to please other people.  We just hope that in the process  of writing songs that we love, that someone else who listens to them will feel that same energy.  Emotional songs that we write are motivated by a need to heal from situations we`re going or have gone through.
