Music: Pop Another Band by Folkland – Pittsburgh, PA

FOLKLAND LOGO“Folkland”, the dynamic duo (Lemar French & L.O.S.) hail from the up and coming city of Pittsburgh P.A. Know for their high energy performances and charismatic style of music, Folkland can deliver every time! Check out this great interview we did with the superb group about their new single “Pop Another Band”.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
We wanted to expand our music outreach and put out a positive dance record that didn’t take a degrading route towards women in the industry.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
This single is the center-piece for our EP, it sums up the entirety of the projects choice tone.
What was the writing process for the song?
The writing process had a basic formula, we wanted to make a song for dancers, but a positive one at that.  Taking all the strip club songs in rotation, we made sure to write as so to separate our song from the sleuth of records already in the same vein.
What do the song’s lyric’s mean to you?
They mean a lot, we’ve all had personal encounters that give us the perspectives throughout the song.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
We’d like to think it’d be something different, or at the least very entertaining.  As a duo we like to give our live shows a great deal of realism to match what we perform, so something like having a girl dance while we perform wouldn’t be out of the question.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
That’s a great question, honestly we’re a complex dish to serve up, as fans of music in general, it’s never easy to pin point what direction we may take on a record next.  We love to ride life’s inspiration when it comes to dissecting our art.  You would probably have to give an entire project a listen to complete the story in some facets.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
We are currently planning the video and taking an opposite from expected approach.  We want to graduate from the typical, “club”, look and go for a more wholesome style of representation.  Maybe looking into the lives of the women we’re writing about on the record more or less.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
Life itself, we feel there is no better inspiration than what happens right in front of you.
