Why did you select this song as your current single?
Well, besides being the title cut, it incorporates many of the elements that are hallmarks of our sound.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
Sonically, the album it pretty homogenous, but October Moon (the single) is more of a mini-symphony with twists and turns and building dynamics, all packed into 3 minutes.
What was the writing process for the song?
All the songs on OM were born through identical processes. Kevin created a musical “soundscape” as I like to call them, and handed it off to me. Like all the recordings Kevin created in this batch, the soundscape immediately triggered a rush of inspiration. In this particular song, the driving acoustic guitar at the beginning and the musical interlude, seemed natural extensions of what Kevin had given me, making it very much a duo collaboration. It’s interesting that the musical imagery (for me) was similar to an epic, fall-like explosion of color backed by a rising harvest moon, (an October moon). So this song set the tone for the rest of the album and obviously helped define our vision for it!
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
The lyrics are pretty much a reflection of the music itself. Fall imagery tied to our personal efforts to create music which is inspired and hopefully inspiring.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Well it would have much of the richness and imagery of the recording along with the edge and energy one would hope to find in a live performance.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Well, for this album and a particular period in time, yes. But the next album will in fact sound very different. So as an artist I would hope to not, particularly by one song! But as different as Kevin or I might think the next album is, I’m sure that from a distance, there may be more similarities than we might see ourselves.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
No, we pretty much focused on the music for this one. Perhaps for the next album.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
Well the creative part is simply a means of expression. The technical aspects of writing and recording are the outlet that allows us to document and share whatever it is that moves us. Also, we’re both drawn to the craft of songwriting and producing, so we find a good level of balance in working together.
