Check out this great new interview by surgeon turned musician Sarantos
Why did you select this song as your current single?
It is the 1st song released and the name of my upcoming album because I feel as though I have finally gotten to the point in my life last year where I said enough is enough. I was not where I wanted to be and I decided to do something about it. The song is a sad song but life is itself all about ups and downs. I have never been one to stay down and I think most people can relate to feeling. At some point in time, everyone has felt like their life is not what they envisioned. They are simply not where they want to be!
How does this single relate to the rest of the CD?
It sets the tone for the rest of the CD but there is so much variety in the music. There is literally no other song on the CD like this one. So I hope the fans love it but I do not want my music to always sound the same.
What was the writing process for the song?
I actually wrote the song the night before I was turning 30 years old. It was an exciting and fulfilling time in my life but turning 30 actually scared me for a brief moment. This song reflects that mood. Finally saying goodbye to ones 20s is more sad than exciting I think. Most of us always said they would get around to something and always put it off. When you finally turn 30, you realize the most healthy years of your life are behind you. But that is not as scary as realizing that you no longer have your whole life ahead of you where you can go be whatever you want to be. You can no longer go become a major league ballplayer or go down a different path in school or work. You can but the formative years are now behind you and it is harder to make a drastic change. It doesn’t mean you can’t. it just means it’s harder!
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Lyrics mean to me moving on from my 20s to my 30s. The innocence of youth is now surely gone, no matter how much you go thru your 20s pretending that you are still in control of your entire life and can do whatever you want. There is also a sense of fear as you realize your own mortality. Your life is not infinite. You need to make the most of it because a good chunk of it is no officially in the rear view mirror.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I think to watch me perform this song would be almost like watching be very emotionally detached, kind of like life is passing me by and I am helpless to do anything about it. I have almost accepted my fate and am just going thru the motions. My performance would be very similar to the music video.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I do not think my fans can summarize who I am as an artist solely by this song. I think this is a slow somber ballad. Some of my other music is very uplifting and positive and there’s a wide range of emotion at all the different songs. There’s also a different vocal range and register I reach with the other songs.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes a music video is completed. The idea behind the video is one of time lapse photography. It shows that life is passing him by and he is barely noticing. He is so sad and depressed and does not even realize the time is just passing on by.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
I have undergone several personal challenges in the last few years but my dad’s passing away in 2010 after a long hard-fought battle with lung cancer really put me over the edge. I had also dealt with some health issues like asthma and allergies, which severely affected my singing style. After mourning my father’s death for a long time, I woke up one day and decided that the timing was finally right. This was always my lifelong dream and I was tired of doing nothing about it and watching life pass me by. My main inspiration, however, is to raise money for charity. 33% of any music related sales are going straight to charity!
