With the ‘Catch a Fire’ tour well under way, reggae and dancehall legend Damian Marley will soon be landing in Las Vegas on September 24. The event will take place at the Cosmopolitan, a casino that is situated on Vegas’s notorious Strip.
Urban Izlands broke the news regarding the ‘Catch a Fire’ tour back in May with Marley announcing a total of 17 shows across North America. So far the tour has stopped at Philadelphia, Boston, New Jersey, Minneapolis, Denver and Kansas to name a few.
Marley will be joined by his brother Stephen “Ragga” Marley along with Morgan Heritage, Black Am I, Tarrus Riley and Jo Mersa. As the crew tour North America, there’s no doubt that the upcoming show at the Cosmopolitan is the biggest on the tour and will see them play at the famous, The Pool.
The Cosmopolitan is one of the most revered casinos on the Strip and has continued to be a money-spinner regardless of the online casino boom that came to fruition in the late 90s. One of the reasons for its success is its uniqueness. Renowned for its lavish pool bars and the outdoor music venue where Marley will be playing – aptly called ‘The Pool’ – the Cosmopolitan is a must for anyone visiting Las Vegas according to the Guardian.
As the Cosmopolitan continues to reinvent itself and offer the best in live entertainment, the casino has managed to stay ahead of the curve. Luckily, it hasn’t fallen foul of the lost revenues many have incurred from the aforementioned online casinos. What is alarming for many of the smaller casinos is that online providers like the Coral Group’s Gala Casino have merged with UK bookmaker Ladbrokes to form somewhat of a super team reports the Mirror. This trend seems to be a common trend now as bookmakers look to diversify their portfolios.
Regardless of the competition that the Cosmopolitan faces from its online counterparts, it still strives to put on the best in live music at The Pool. And the ‘Catch a Fire’ stop off is set to be a night to remember. It is also rumoured that Marley will announce some additional tour dates very soon, although another Vegas date looks doubtful.
