Today, CeeLo Green stepped into court to plead not guilty to drug charges.  The good news for the “The Voice” judge will is that he will not be charged with sexual assault. The bad news is that he in its place was struck with one count of furnishing ecstasy to a female victim. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to four years in prison.
CeeLo Green whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, “allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant sometime between July 13 and July 14, 2012,” the DA’s office said in a statement.
In formal court document the prosecutors said that, “there is insufficient evidence to prove that the level of the victim’s intoxication deprived the victim of the capacity to give consent,” the form said. “Second, there is insufficient evidence to prove that the defendant knew or should have known that the victim lacked the capacity to have sex with him as required by law.”
CeeLo only spoke one time during this arraignment and that was to maintain his innocents.
We must say that we hope the truth comes out whichever way the pendulum may swing.
