Beats Music joined the digital music revolution about 100 days back looking to take over and revolutionize this industry much like it did with the headphones. Unlike the headphone industry at the time there is more than one major player in this industry. In light of this Beats got many investors excited and garner over 100 million in funding. This was imed at product development, new feature integration, gaining new customers, and new PR moves – all in the name of taking on foes like Spotify According to digitaltrends.com.
With all the success previously it would be easy to say that it would transfer into this new space, but that is not the case. It is rumored that in the first month the service only garnered a low 28,000 subscribers to its new platform.
Beats is not out though, they have just got a new influx of money to help drive subscription. But beats has a long road ahead as it joined a very saturated industry. Beats joined others services such as Spotify, Rdio, TuneIn, iTunes Radio, and others a run for their money.
I guess time will tell what will happen as it was not over night that Spotify got to 6 million subscribes, it took over 6 years.
