Before even hearing Emerson Windy’s music I was already impressed by the amount of work this artist has put in with his team. Emerson has one of the best EPK I have ever seen just that simply. When I did listen, I was impressed by his music and will not be surprised to hear it soon on national radio. Emerson and his team has made some big moves in the last year and this year will be even bigger for this young artist.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
The record had a “made for radio” vibe overall, from the beat to the catchy chorus that Chris Knite came. 2 Chainz being featured on the record was also a giant plus due to the amount of support that radio gives him nationwide. Add at all that up and it equals my first single
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
Content wise, the single relates to the album because it deals heavily with the hustle I encounter everyday to get my “Money Up”. Sound wise, it relates because the album is filled with mounds of “quality street music” as DJ Drama would say.
What was the writing process for the song?
My process for writing is a bit different from most, I haven’t written a lyric down in some time I now. I listen to the track as loud as possible to vibe with it naturally all while humming the melody and blurting out this words every now and then until I get an idea of how I want to deliver the cadence of the verse. Once I how I want it go melodically, I begin to come up with the lyrics in my head then I run straight into the booth once I have it down and can fully re sight the verse 5 times perfectly. That’s my process for writing verses.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
I wanted to lyrically give my listeners a quick introduction and fun filled vocal thru a day with Windy Boy. I just told them about my hustle in a short 16 bars
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
A sweaty experience… Lol. I lose about 2 every show just from sweating some much. I get in there and I go, I love giving my energy to fans. I also love my music so hearing loud as hell in front of a bunch people gives me this adrenaline rush I can’t articulate into words… To be on stage is living for me. Wow…
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Not at all, I make so many different styles and genres of music not to mention that vocally I don’t always sound the same from track to track. You really have to dig into a number of Windy records to get to know me.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
The video will be coming in the future but specific date at the moment but to give you and the readers a little nugget, it may be a cartoon animated video. Hofa Bang had a amazing idea for it which I won’t give away yet but he thinks totally outside the box so it won’t disappoint. Trust Windy.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
My family… My team, my fans and my promise I made to late mother who’s birthday is today (Jan. 20). I promised my mother before she died that I would do something special for those that need it most. As an artist with some notoriety, I have an opportunity to spread a message. I decide what that message is, I’m choosing to have fun, keep it real, all while opening my listeners eyes to the issues every now and then. That’s my formula.
