Why did you select this song as your current single?
I thought this song would be the perfect track for a summertime release. It’s a fun song and I felt that we really captured the summer vibe that I had envisioned in the beginning stages of production and writing. I had been wanting to do a song with this theme for so long and I’m so glad that I finally did!
Tell us how the single relates to the rest of the Album and or Mixtape?
The single is not on an album yet but I think it definitely relates to my other music. I love to create memorable melodies so I try to keep that consistent throughout all of my music. In terms of sound, I tend to have a good mix between pop, dance, r&b, electronic, and urban sounds.
What was the writing process for the song?
I began strumming my guitar with a few basic chords and writing off the idea of “Hot summertime” and the song just took off from there. I always say my best songwriting comes with the least amount of effort and that’s definitely the case with Hot Summer. I wrote the whole song within an hour and I knew right away that would be my next single.
Tell what it would be like to see you in person performing this song?
I love performing this song live! I bring my backup dancers on stage for this and we do a lot of choreography for this one. It always gets really good reception from the audience. I’ll be getting a live performance video of this posted very soon.
What is the concept behind the video?
I released the Official Music Video for Hot Summer back in July. We wanted the whole beach, party feel with crowds, and people having a good time. We lucked out with amazing weather and I think we really achieved the Hot Summer feel that we were going for. It was an amazing experience!
