Vanessa Elisha has such an amazing voice. Vanessa recently released an EP called “Don’t Go”. We originally heard the EP on our partner’s website BrainofBMW.com and we had to make sure to reach out to her. This EP is a must listen! Check out this interview about her single, “Home to me.”
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I decided to go with “Home to me” because it really spoke to my experiences at the time that I was making the EP. My team loved the song and the vibe, so we went with it.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
The whole EP is a story, it’s about the beginning and the downfall of a relationship.
What was the writing process for the song?
The writing process for this song is like any other I do. I get a beat that inspires me, I listen to it and see how it makes me feel … the melodies and words just come out.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It’s personal, it evokes a lot of emotion and pain I was feeling at the time.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
The live performance is very emotional, heartfelt, I just try to go back to the feeling I had when I was writing the lyrics.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
No I don’t think they could. I grow and I develop every day, I don’t think one song could ever summarize me as an artist. I don’t ever want to stay stagnant.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes the video is on my youtube page www.youtube.com/vanessavelisha The idea behind it is to show a flurry of emotions represented by the projection on my body. I’m singing to a man who watches me as I pour my heart out to him.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
It’s simply all I want to do. It’s what makes me happiest in life.
