Honey Larochelle is described as a “Funky like Chaka, Soulful like Alicia and Edgy like Lauryn, Mellissa Mya Larochelle, known professionally as Honey Larochelle, has been all over the world searching for a “sound.” Honey has had much success touring with the Brand New Heavies and Joss Stone, Omar and many other bands which eventually lead to a record deal with Macy Gray. When she is not touring as a background singer, she is producing, arranging, and writing for other artists. Honey is a talent lady that deserves all the attention and success she has gained over the years. She has much ahead of her and we had to make sure that we sat down and speak with her about her new single, “Heaven.”
Why did you select this song as your current single?
This song was created as a soundtrack for making love, but it’s also good for just riding around, cleaning up, or getting ready.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
The whole album serves the same purpose. You should try it 😉
What was the writing process for the song?
We sat over dinner in Copenhagen and discussed our favorite artists and why. Then we spent some time listening to a few we both loved and analyzing what we felt and why. Then we started playing around and it just poured out of us.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It’s an empowering song, where the female gets to finally tell her partner how much she is feelin him (or her, depending on your personal taste.) She gets to uplift her lover. To me that means everything.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I don’t know, come see 🙂
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I dont think anyone can summarize anyone just off a 3 minute one sided conversation. But there are certain traits in this piece that are likely present in all of my pieces.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
There is a video out for it. We were going for my favorite kinda night. Just a few friends jamming at the house having drinks…some flirting…some connecting…a plain old great night.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
I make music because I have to. It’s my blessing and my curse. I’m sure many of you can understand that feeling. In the end I hope I leave behind a body of work that is memorable and fuels a lot of people’s life stories.
