Why did you select this song as your current single?
I selected this song because it received the best review. While performing it I could feel the audience’s positive energy. I also discussed it with my producer Le Dib and we both decided to make this one the hit single of the project. Arrangement wise its the song that has the most commercial potential.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
Most of the songs in the EP follow the same concept. We wanted to have a live band feel, transmit an organic vibe but still keep it in the pop genre.
What was the writing process for the song?
I randomly get ideas for songs in my head. No matter when or where I am. The first thing I do is grabbing my phone and record the idea before its gone. Then I get my lyric book and a pen and start writing, I sit on the piano and try to figure out what chords fit. Usually my songs express what I was feeling at the moment I wrote them. I show it to my producer and together we figure out ways to enhance the song, changing parts of the melody and adding lyrics.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It is a social complaint. I strongly believe that through music we can accomplish great things. It is a fight for equality and against hypocrisy.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
You would probably feel like moving to the beat of the song. It is a upbeat, positive song that just makes you smile. I try to be a very honest performer. Be myself, have fun and engage the audience somehow.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I definitely think that you could get a strong idea of who I am as an artist by “Heart of Stone” but I also think that few artists can be described by only one song. We all go through different phases in our lives and some of them are not something we’re proud of and would like to be known for but we still decide to write songs about it because it is what made us who we are.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
There is a video planned. The idea is to involve people with different backgrounds, ethnicities and styles. See them express themselves freely in front of the camera. It is to show how we can all be different but still the same. We all have feelings and emotions no matter where we are from.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
The audience, listeners: having people that actually care what I have to say in my songs and can relate with that. I think music is one of the most powerful tools we have to influence people and I want to use that power in a positive way. Believing that one day I can make a difference encourages me to keep doing what I do.
