ARTIST COMMENT:
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I wrote this song a couple years ago and have been waiting for the perfect
time to share it with the world. Now is the time! I chose it because it’s
a catchy uptempo full of spunk and personality.
If there is a video for the song, please explain the concept?
At the moment, there is not a video. But, if I were to make one it would most likely involve a pack of fabulous ladies enjoying a night on the town!
Please tell us how this single relates to the rest of the Album?
“Gettin’ Pretty” ties in with the progressive sound of my current album but has a unique message. On the first listen, one would think of it as a party/dance song. However, the real story is a girl overcoming heartache and taking control of her life. Each song on my current record, “Brand New”, delivers a message. “Gettin’ Pretty” is no exception.
What was the writing process for the song?
The writing process for “Gettin’ Pretty” first began with the idea that everyone has a favorite song that gets them pumped up. I myself have a select few tunes that I listen to when I am “gettin’ pretty.” I started with the chorus and immediately knew I was on to something. Later, I presented that to co-writer, Will Garman, and together we wrote the majority of the lyrics. Even though the song was off to a good start we hit a wall and could not decide on a direction for the music. Ultimately, it was collaborating with Andy Wills that pulled everything together. I am very please with what the three of us came up with and hope the world enjoys it as much as we have.
Please tell what it would be like to see you in person performing this song?
I have been performing “Gettin’ Pretty” for a couple years now and honestly, I never tire of singing it. I can always feel the energy from the crowd and it truly is amazing. Because the crowd always seems to enjoy the song it positively effects my performance.
