Why did you select this song as your current single?
I chose Cue The Violins because it is one of my newest creations, and it’s currently my fan favorite. Unlike a lot of Pop songs, I stayed away from regurgitating the same old lyrics and put my own soulful spin on the delivery and sound of the track. I’m also proud to have done EVERYTHING on Cue The Violins from production/recording/mixing/mastering. I have a great deal of respect for great singers/songwriters, but I like being able to control the whole song from start to finish so it sounds exactly how I intend. Since Cue The Violins has featured on The Real Housewives of Miami on Bravo, on FOX Sports and on other popular shows and channels, it is an ear catcher.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-Tape?
Cue The Violins was actually released as a single. Compared to my Breaking Rules EP, Cue The Violins has more of a dance anthem vibe and rocks some low bass! The theme is also a bit different from my other songs, but it still has a snarky comedic twist entangled throughout the song.
What was the writing process for the song?
When I started writing Cue The Violins, I intended for it to be sung by an artist other than myself. The songwriting process was kicked off by creating a simple 4 on the floor (Dance) drumbeat, then a chord progression on the piano. From there, I created the bassline followed by Cue The Violin’s signature violin hook. With the core of the instrumental completed, I started to fill in the song with lyrics. After writing the lyrics for the chorus, I knew I loved the song too much to let it go, so I kept it for myself. The rest of the song was tailored to my personal musical style.
What does the song’s lyric mean to you?
Cue The Violins has a playful spin on a serious message that I think everyone should hear. A great deal of people have been cheated on, including myself, and many of these people forgive their cheating significant other when they come crying and asking for forgiveness. Cue The Violins gives us permission to not be walked on by cheaters, in fact, we shouldn’t feel bad for them no matter how much they grovel. Cue The Violins means you can throw that cheater’s crap out your window, and do it with a big smile on your face, knowing you legitimately don’t care about their BS reasons for cheating anymore.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Like eating high energy cheesecake, with a sexy graham cracker crust, topped with strawberries dancing the Cue The Violins hip-hop line dance.
Could fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Partially, yes. I don’t like to confine myself to any one style though. Every song I make can probably be classified as Pop (although it might be a little unique to be considered mainstream). Pop is such a broad genre, and I like to hit different ends of the spectrum. Listening to Cue The Violins, listeners might mistake me as purely a Pop/Dance artist. After listening to my song Memories and hearing my Breaking Rules EP, I hope that thought will change tremendously. Creating songs with an R&B, Singer/Songwriter, dubstep, hip-hop and Jazz flair is what I strive for. I desire to make great music that people connect with, no matter what genre category.
Is there a video planned or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
There is a dynamic lyric video on my YouTube channel for Cue The Violins, but I plan to make a full on music video in the near future. The lyric video is definitely entertaining, and people get a kick out of it.
What is your motivation behind your music?
I just love making music! I started singing when I was seven, writing when I was fourteen, and producing when I was fifteen. The Musicians Institute of Hollywood is where I honed in on my music production skills, graduating from its audio engineering/post production program at sixteen, winning best final project. Music is my passion and I want to flood the industry with good music. I’m motivated to introduce new lyric themes to my audience, and keep my fans engaged!
