Music: Confession Session by Blaine Cobak

Blaine CobakWith my debut project “3AM” releasing in October of 2014, I am feeling the after effects from the feedback. The mixtape was featured on DatPiff during the Christmas holiday season, and now it is sponsored, and a free downloads either there, or at www.blainecobak.com. Now, I am working on 2 projects. One is a Medley, which will be a story-like EP. More-so, it will have many tracks that are shortened; this is a new style of music. Also, I am working on another mixtape/EP called “Amethyst Dreams” which I hope to release shortly after the Medley. Both of these projects will be out by spring 2015.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
The main reason “Confession Session” was the early single off of 3AM is that the song in its entirety, mirrors the entire project for me personally. A little bit of flare, some quick jabs, & the truth, perhaps even, a confession.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
It relates to 3AM, my debut project, in a way of this; the world today is like social media, and everyone sees one another only as what that person wants them to see. It’s rare to walk up to a random person and say hello these days, it’s even more rare to witness a random act of kindness. So for me, “Confession Session” shows you truthfully who I am, a person striving to get better, in a truthful approach. I don’t talk about shit that I don’t do.
What was the writing process for the song?
For me, writing the song, as opposed to creating a flow, is extremely fluent. Words make stories for me very quickly and I love to throw metaphors in there including sports and whatever I think is relevant during the time in my life. The process behind “Confession Session” actually goes way back to my original name I wanted for my mixtape “Airplane Mode” which, you will see one day. In my world, a session is can consist of a few different meanings, and in this particular scenario sometimes you need to just vent emotions out.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It’s a little bit of a twisted tale, most of my lyrics, even detailed down to each bar, sometimes even a single word will have its own meaning for just me, the artist. But that is exactly what art is, interpretation of how things made you feel. To me, this session was just about letting people get a closer look at who I really I am.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I take performances over a recording any day. Those are the moments that we really embrace ourselves. This track is a real mood-setter. You can get the point across of how you feeling in sub-tweets with these lyrics, all day.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I think if this question were to be asked in a year, maybe two, maybe 5 even from now, then the answer would be yes. There is mystery to maintain being Blaine Cobak.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Hopefully we can make 2-3 videos from the tracks on 3AM. This is still up in the air as I am moving quickly on newer releases.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
I want to help everyone I consider family, and everyone else too. #Truth
