Music: Changes by Knox Hill – DMV

KnoxHillArtist like Knox Hill is definitely what music needs as he talks about real subject matter. In this lyrics, songs there is no fronting about things he does not have. He is making music for the regular man and there are more of those out there than the people with “Stacks”.  Knox was selected for DMV Live Radio’s “Freshman Class” for 2013 and also on the “Must Watch” List for Blis FM. Unsigned Hype’s “Top 5” fresh artists, his music has been featured on national radio in the US (Fox Sports National XM, Shady XM) and internationally as well. He was Get Down Son’s “Artist to Watch” for this year, and he is fast climbing the DMV and international charts. Check out Knox’s new single, “Change” along with our exclusive interview that single will Mr. Hill.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I wanted a song to showcase not only who Knox Hill is, but what music means to me. Change was the perfect choice – it’s simple, powerful, and it puts you in that space where nothing else matters but the sound.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
It’s the heart and soul of my Redemption EP. It’s an album of many singles, but what brings it together and holds the meaning of my Redemption is “Change.”
What was the writing process for the song?
Living. Life experiences influence all of my songs, and this is one where parts of my personal story or people I know find their way into the track. It’s emotional, it’s raw, and it’s a song that was already written in my mind – it just needed to find its way to paper.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Change. We all need it, are ruled by it, or are looking for it. Whether it’s change in a monetary sense or change as in the choices you make, we all need a moment to stop and breathe sometimes.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Inspirational. I really breathe my heart into the song, and you can see the power behind the words. The singer, Tiffany Renee, just has this incredible vocal range, and her hook…you just feel it. It’s like you walked into Church and all of a sudden you’re just caught by this beautiful, spiritual voice of a choir singer. It hits your soul.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
No. This song is just one aspect of Knox Hill and the creativity that comes with it. I am always experimenting with new sounds, and am always changing and twisting what people perceive me to be.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes. It’s going to be very personal, very in your face, and emotional. A lot of clips of my home and where I come from will be mixed in there, and I plan on telling a story with the visuals.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
Survival. I can’t live without music, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I didn’t have a microphone or an instrument. It defines me as a person, and it’s an outlet to help me get through the darker times in life, as well as the brighter ones.
