Check out our new interview with POP, R&B artist Carl Thornton.
Singer, Songwriter, and Actor Carl Thornton was born in North Carolina, but at the tender age of three his parents moved to Long Island, New York and there he was raised. Carl began singing at the age of seven in an elementary school chorus. While on stage of the very first performance he had an epiphany, that singing is what he wanted to do with his life.
He attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, H.B. Studios and has taken classes at the Broadway Dance Center. He is currently studying voice with Robert Marks.
Carl played the role of Benny in the National Tour of “RENT,” was Eat Moe in the musical “5 Guys Named Moe,” Detroit in “From My Hometown” and JoJo in “You Shouldn’t Have Told.” His talents have taken him to such places as Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Istanbul, Dubai and Portugal. In 2013 he was contracted to tour and sing in China.
From the opening notes of “GET UP!” Carl’s first single, one hears the melodic drive and irresistible beat that entices you to move with unabashed joy. It has an electrifying, pulsating beat.
Carl is currently singing with New York City Swing which is taking him all over the East. One of Carl’s favorite quotes is “nothing beats a failure but a try,” words he lives by daily.

It is high energy, electronic with pop elements and is such a feel good song, that I thought it would be great summer song.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
It is giving the listener an insight into parts of my life experience, so this song tells the beginning of my love story with my ex.
What was the writing process for the song?
One day I was thinking about relationships and reminiscing about the love I had and lost in my life and the lyrics came to me.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
Meeting someone for the first time and there’s this undeniably powerful connection as if two souls are reunited and you’re left breathless.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
There would be this explosive energy, of truth, happiness and pure love.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Yes, that I am a guy who gives 100% of himself totally, enjoys life to the fullest, loves unabashedly and lives in the moment.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
The idea was to have a powerful, provocative and thought provoking image of an interacial couple in a loving romantic relationship, being in a complete state of bliss. Love is universal and I am hoping that everyone can relate to two people giving of themselves unconditionally, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
My motivation is the pure fact that singing and music is as important a factor in my life as breathing. It’s essential to my existence!
