New music from Crystal Corinne of TIW Music
Why did you select this song as your current single?
I like the story arc of “Avalanche” – It’s about the transition of a woman who feels paralyzed by the loss of a relationship but gradually becomes empowered and ready to move forward with her life. I also like the song’s inspiring message.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
The single stands on its own, but is part of a song catalog that I’ve been building over the past two years (I’m a songwriter/producer).
What was the writing process for the song?
There are usually 3 main things that I need before writing a song: The emotions that I want to convey, a strong memory that I can build the lyrics around, and a catchy hook or a word that flows easily off my tongue.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It’s a song about how devastating a loss can be, and how a person can feel so crushed by loss that it seems there’s no way out. However, no matter how bad it gets, you can find support and inner strength that help you move on with your life. It was an important theme in my life personally when I was in college.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
Crystal Corinne, who recorded “Avalanche,” is an amazing singer and actor who conveys emotion really well. She’s able to draw me in emotionally, and has that effect on other people, too.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Yes. I think that my fans and friends know that my ballads are deeply rooted in emotion and hope. I tend to be an optimist with a dose of realism, and that comes across in “Avalanche.” I write in several different genres, but pop and r&b are my favorite, and “Avalanche” is a pop/r&b song.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes, the music video for “Avalanche” went up on YouTube yesterday. The link to it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z-GaD3-pHo . The SoundCloud link for the audio ishttp://www.soundcloud.com/tiwmusic .
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
There’s no one motivation behind my music, but I do love the process of starting with nothing – no lyrics or music – and creating a song “out of thin air.” I suppose it’s a feeling that many creative people get when they complete a project. I also hope to build a music catalog that is marketable, and continue having the opportunity to collaborate with musicians and sound engineers.
