London Taylor's King of Love

London Taylor dropped off her single, “King of Love” and we had to get an interview about the creation of this piece of art. Check out the interview and press play below when you are done reading.

Why did you select this song as your current single?

Because this single is like a baby to me, i’d say is the most important song of the EP. Aubrey Whitfield and i wrote it. It talks about a strong feeling that is noxious and dangerous, but at the same time makes you feel alive, so it’s hard to let go of. I believe lots of people can relate to this. Love can make you feel wonderfully, yet can destroy you at the same time.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?

The EP is quite vary. I tried to write about many different topics that i have experienced first hand. But i’d say this song is in contrast with the first track of the EP, Ice to the Fire, which talks about unconditional love. It talks about a couple that has a long distance relationship and wants to get married, spend the rest of their life together and forget about their past.

What was the writing process for the song?

It was very quick. As an artist, i write from the heart, and when it’s something i have experienced or i am living, it’s rather easy for me to write about it. I went to the studio, and my producer helped me putting together the emotions i felt. It’s my first time ever co-writing with someone else. I usually write my songs by myself, but it was an interesting thing to do.

What does this song’s lyric mean to you?

It means a lot. I had to let go of a big love before, i know how much it hurts, so i feel every word i sing. This is why A Kind of Love is my favourite single, and would love people to adore it as much as i do.

What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?

It would be a blast of energy and strong emotions. I like to get wild on stage, and the more i love the song, the more energy i give to the performance. I believe it would be an amazing show, it’s a ballad you can dance to.

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

I believe so. It’s a deep song, at the same time has pop/electronic sounds to it, which i believe is also who i am as an artist. I can put out a dance song, i have a track on my EP called F****boy, and then, the next thing you know i am singing a ballad about love, or death, or heartbreak. I am rather flexible as an artist, i like my songs to sound different.

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

There’s a video planned for the song, yes. I am very excited about it.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

Music is all i have ever known. I started singing at age 4, and write my songs at age 11. It’s the only thing i never get tired of, it’s not just a career to me, it’s also a reason to live. It’s also another form of communication, a language that me, and other songwriters, happen to speak. It’s a wondrous feeling. So, i guess, my motivation behind my music is to communicate with the world, and share my emotions with it. I hope people will love this EP, because i do.
