It's A Pleasure To Have Met You

Billy Grima at Rockpile
Billy Grima is a singer/ songwriter living in the Caledon Hills of Ontario, Canada. Born in Blacktown, NSW Australia, Billy started writing at a very young age and was singing in a church choir by the age of 8 years old. At 15, Billy moved to Canada and settled in Toronto.   Like classic singer/songwriters, Billy Joel, Jim Croce, James Taylor and Bob Dylan, life’s daily realities and everyday events are a source of Billy’s inspiration.  His smooth and soulful sound has earned him comparisons to contemporaries Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, Jack Johnson and even Bruno Mars.
Billy has 3 albums to his credit: I’m Just Standing , A Little Piece Of Heaven and his latest, titled Sugar & Cream, produced and engineered by Pete Swann (Glass Tiger’s Alan Connely, Adrian and Justin Lifeson, sons of Rush’s Alex Lifeson.)  Sugar & Cream features a tasty blend of pop, rock, soul and Americana, including the first single, “Pleasure To Have Met You.”  The album is going for worldwide radio adds this spring.
“Writing a hook or humming a melody is medicine,” Grima says.  Let Sugar & Cream be the prescription for your perfect playlist.
“Pleasure to Have Met You” is the new single from singer Billy Grima. Check out the story behind the single below.
Why did you select this song as your current single?
Because it is a “feel  good” song.  I like the beat, I like the tune, I like the hook on the chorus line. It’s one of my favorites.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
This is a very intimate song, just like the way the rest of the album was written, about the very personal situations in people’s daily lives.  It has a feel of a country song, with a taste of Americana which flows into the rest of the album.
What was the writing process for the song?
It all started with the chorus, as I just could not get this person off my mind. Then the story- line became very easy as I put the rest of the story together and the words just started flowing.
What does this song’s lyrics mean to you?
The song’s lyrics are very special to me .  They are about meeting that someone special in your life. No matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, you can’t seem to get enough of that person. And even if you try, you just can’t shake them off your mind. You find yourself smiling , that to me is your soulmate.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
It would be a very lively show because there are no boundaries when it comes to playing live with Billy Grima.  There are a lot of audience interactions, which is something that I always aim to do.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
Yes they can.  Billy Grima has a distinctive sound. The fans label this song as unique as it pulls different genres of music together .
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
Yes, there is a video available on YouTube for Pleasure to Have Met You. I just wanted to have the band playing in the background with an easy, laid back scene.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
My motivation behind my music is for it to be heard, and that’s what it’s all about.
