Why did you select this song as your current single?
I chose the single,“Think I’m Picky” because of the vibe, not because of the content; I liked the energy of the song.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
The album is entitled “Tomorrow Starts Today”. It is about pushing past excuses and realizing if you want your future to be better you must make a difference wherever you are. Act now. It’s about being motivated. It’s a wake up to your drive and passion.
The Album cover represents turning your back to the mistakes of yesterday and starting fresh Today.
I’ve made mistakes associating myself with the wrong or I will say I had an incorrect fit with people that had certain ideologies or mindsets. “Think I’m Picky” ties in with the album because in order to get a desired result in life you have to be “quote un quote” picky or particular with everything. I know what I want in life and what I want to do.
What was the writing process for the song?
Some people may not know but I also produce and mix. The first part of the process was produce a danceable and energetic beat to express passion with hard thumping 808s. I always record my freestyles to my beats and I go back and keep what I like and make edits after to make it coherent.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
As far as lyrical content and meaning “Think Im Picky” is about knowing what you want. What I want is genuineness. In this day it’s easy to get caught up in things that only want to use you then spit you out. That’s why I said I only want real near me in the lyrics. It’s great to associate yourself with authentic people. No one wants to be considered fake. Don’t be willing to sell yourself short because you want the acceptance of people that probably could care less. But other than that, I enjoyed the bounce of the song, it has a lively and fun feel to it.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
I believe I love performing more than any other aspect. To see me perform in person I would describe it as an experience. I always feel a connection with the audience as if they were apart of the performance. I make the audience want to participate and enjoy themselves.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
I would say not really. Any one who knows me or follows me understand I have generally been against solely promoting singles. Simply for the fact that it can make an artist look one dimensional. I usually release music as a body of work. Because I am an artist not a song. For example, a painter could paint a beautiful landscape picture. But that doesn’t mean he is a landscaping painter, because the next day he may paint a beautiful woman. I believe overall if you listen to the body of work you can get a better since of the overall artist. Again, I don’t think I will ever have a single song that could summarize me as an artist because I am an artist not a song.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
I do have a video I planned It I had various ideas to make it more of a story line. However, I honestly was pressed for time and just needed some visual to work with a sponsor. So ultimately the video is like a girl that pretty much embodies my music as she goes to find out who I am by visiting my website.
The setting Is in a mostly white background with some special effects and performance shots.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
The motivation behind my music has always been the people. I am an advocate for non- violence and music is a powerful change agent. It can change people’s mindsets, attitudes and atmosphere. In January 2017, I performed at the Youth Against Violence Conference in Douglasvill GA. I also performed for the Black History Month Parade in Atlanta GA in February 2017. Besides that, I served at our local church’s Teen ministry for years. God motivates me to contribute something positive in the culture. I play my part and do what I love.
