ARTIST COMMENT:
Why did you select this song as your current single?
It was kind of a no brainer. It encompassed a lot of the great elements people have come to expect from our sound – hooks, riffs, and just an overall good rock n’ roll vibe. It was the first song written for the Orlando sessions.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album?
It’s a great opener for this mini-EP. I think sonically it fits in very well the rest of the songs and is a good way to bridge the gap from this releases and previous ones. It sets the stage and tone of what’s to come.
What was the writing process for the song?
Jason writes most of the lyrics on his own as well as vocal melodies. The basic structure of songs are demoed and worked out, at least for this EP, at our bassist’s home. It was either one acoustic guitar, or at the most two, just hashing out arrangements. Our mentality is if it sounds good stripped down it’ll be even better with the entire band and additional depth and layers production provides.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
High energy like the rest of our set. We always take rehearsals very seriously and try and present the song in the best light possible. We’ve all been to so many concerts where the band does a very different version of a song live and it sounds nothing like the record. So we pride ourselves on trying to replicate the sound of the record as much as possible.
What is the concept for the video, do you have one planned?
Yes, there is. We actually just finished filming it on November 10th. We’re expecting it to be out very soon. It’s our third music video. It’s cool because this time around we wanted to focus the attention on the song and have an artistically shot performance video that complimented the song. The other two videos were very much narrative driven so this time around it gave us more freedom to rock out and again, just focus on the song. The “Fake This” video also showcases our hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. It was filmed in the Over-the-Rhine district of the city, on a rooftop on Main Street, with the city skyline in the background.
